About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial and Industrial Manager to join our team in Rocklea, QLD. This role is pivotal in driving our business growth, managing client relationships, and ensuring the highest standards of waste management services for our commercial and industrial clients. 

Reporting to the General Manager QLD, the Commercial and Industrial Manager will develop and successfully manage the safe and efficient operations of commercial and industrial waste and recycling collections business in the Southeast Queensland area. The role will also focus on expanding the existing business to other regions within Queensland.

The Role:

Leadership: Be the key member of the leadership team for REMONDIS Australia in Queensland. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the team.

Strategic Planning: In conjunction with the GM QLD and other critical stakeholders, develop and execute business strategy for REMONDIS in QLD with an aim of sustainability and growth. Understand waste management goals and develop commercial business cases of REMONDIS and develop a strategy for business growth.

Operational Management: Be responsible for all aspects of REMONDIS C&I business in QLD. Organise and coordinate operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity. Be responsible for adequately resourcing and equipping all business functions, including people, structure, and equipment.

Performance Management: Be responsible for all key business performance indicators, including safety, productivity, profitability, cost management, and compliance. Analyse commercial and business performance trends and develop and execute appropriate corrective action steps to ensure the achievement of all budgeted KPIs. Manage budgets and costs, including approval processes for all invoices and purchase orders. Strategically manage all associated business costs.

Management Systems: Develop and successfully execute effective management systems to ensure the safe and productive engagement of employees, contractors, and subcontractors.

Container Deposit Scheme: Be a critical stakeholder in developing and managing a container deposit scheme across the state.

Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with partners, customers, and suppliers.

Business Analysis: Gather, analyse, and interpret external and internal business performance data.

Operational Culture: Build an empowering and challenging operational culture focused on safety and delivering results. Provide guidance, management, and support across the business to ensure it operates safely, productively, efficiently, and effectively as an integrated team. Define, uphold, and enforce behavioural standards across the team to continuously improve the safe and efficient performance of the team and plant. Provide a work environment free from discrimination, where everyone is included and treated with respect.

People & Culture Processes: Implement REMONDIS People & Culture processes, systems, and standards across the business, including completing performance objectives and reviews, managing training requirements, and handling HR/IR issues.

HSEQ: Responsible for the health and safety of employees and self through the implementation of REMONDIS HSEQ policies, procedures, systems, and standards across the operation. Ensure education, training, and demonstration of correct behaviours across the team.

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior experience in waste and recycling, logistics or  similar industry.
  • Experienced in leading and mentoring a team of dedicated employees, promoting a culture of collaboration and account ability
  • Confident in fostering and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to enhance business partnerships.
  • Proven experience in managing a business unit with a comprehensive responsibility over P&L, people and safety.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experienced across data analysis and market trends to drive business decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
