Join REMONDIS as our Resource Recovery Manager and take lead of Queensland’s post-collection waste operations — including our flagship Swanbank Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facility, and key Rocklea and Northgate Transfer Stations.

In this pivotal role, you’ll drive operational excellence, safety, and sustainability across our network. You’ll lead high-performing teams, ensure compliance with environmental standards, optimise financial outcomes, and build strong partnerships with customers, contractors, and government stakeholders — all while helping shape a cleaner, more sustainable future for Queensland.

Based at Swanbank, Ipswich, you will be responsible for diverse operations and a team of up to 50 people.  The diversity of operations includes landfills, transfer stations, organics processing and resource recovery activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multi-site resource recovery, landfill and transport operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant outcomes.
  • Drive consistent service delivery, asset performance, operational excellence and positive environmental outcomes across all facilities.
  • Manage budgets, P&L, and capital expenditure within agreed targets.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Project manage new resource recovery initiatives and large scale construction projects.
  • Pursue new business opportunities to grow and diversify services.
  • Monitor key performance metrics, manage risks, and deliver strong results.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a workforce of around 40–50 employees.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.
  • Support workforce planning and industrial relations matters, including enterprise agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with councils, government agencies, contractors, and customers.
  • Represent REMONDIS in joint ventures and industry forums.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation, company policies, and licence conditions.
  • Champion proactive safety leadership and effective HSEQ management.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives that enhance resource recovery, reduce landfill, and support circular economy goals.
  • Collaborate across the business to deliver innovations that boost productivity and profitability.


Who you are

  • At least 5 years’ experience leading operations or site management in waste, recycling, construction, quarrying, or mining.
  • Proven success managing multiple sites and large, hands-on teams.
  • Strong financial skills with experience driving P&L performance.
  • A safety-first leader who builds high-performing teams.
  • Great communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of Queensland’s environmental and waste regulations.
  • Qualifications in safety leadership or project management are a plus.
