The Role

As the Senior Data Engineer you will work closely with state, regional and national teams, accountable for supporting our internal stakeholders regarding data quality, improvement and efficiency, from operational to head office.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, operationalise and manage the target Data Platform in Microsoft Fabric.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain robust, reliable and scalable data pipelines.
  • Combine data from various sources and technologies to create a unified and scalable data ecosystem, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and accessible.
  • Design, implement and optimize databases for performance, integrity, and security.
  • Implement processes to validate, cleanse data and perform regular audits to maintain data quality.
  • Work with ICT and business teams to understand business needs and requirements to deliver effective, efficient and robust data solutions.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in managing and optimizing data platform solutions, such as Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.
  • Proficient in key Microsoft and open-source technologies that underpin modern Lakehouse architectures, including Medallion architecture, Delta Lake, Data Lake/OneLake, Apache Spark, Data Factory, and SQL Analytics Endpoint.
  • Extensive experience in designing and deploying scalable, robust data pipelines that ensure efficient data flow and processing. Including ETL and ELT processes.
  • Proficient in Python, PySpark, Scala, and T-SQL programming languages.
  • Experience with Notebooks, CI/CD, GitHub/Git.
  • Proven experience overseeing and operationalising the entire data lifecycle.
  • Expertise in SQL and database technologies (e.g., MS SQL)
  • Experience working in an agile environment supported by DataOps / DevOps practices and principals.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is a plus.
