REMONDIS Australia is seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to join our finance team in Mascot. This full-time permanent role offers the opportunity to build and lead our internal tax capabilities while reducing reliance on external consultants and enhancing our tax governance framework.
 
About the Role
 
As Tax Manager, you'll be responsible for managing REMONDIS Australia's complete tax function, ensuring compliance with Australian tax laws while supporting our strategic financial transformation. You'll work closely with executive leadership, providing tax advice on business decisions and implementing robust governance frameworks aligned with ATO expectations. This role is a greenfield opportunity to build out our tax functionality. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead preparation and lodgement of all tax returns including income tax, GST, FBT, and PAYG across all entities
  • Oversee tax effect accounting and ensure accurate calculation of deferred tax assets and liabilities
  • Provide strategic tax advice on mergers, acquisitions, restructures, and major commercial transactions
  • Identify and assess tax risks from legislative changes and business activities
  • Drive automation of tax processes and collaborate with IT teams to enhance data integrity
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff while building internal tax capabilities
  • Engage with external advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies including the ATO
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with CA/CPA qualification
  • You will have commenced your career in one of the Big 4 firms learning world's best practice
  • Experience in senior tax roles, preferably in industrial related industries
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation including income tax, GST, FBT, Superannuation, payroll tax and transfer pricing
  • Experience with tax effect accounting and reportable tax positions
  • Proven ability to implement tax governance frameworks and manage compliance programs
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership
  • Leadership experience with ability to mentor and develop team members
