About the Opportunity

Join REMONDIS as our National Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Chemicals Specialist and become an essential part of our comprehensive waste management operations. Working from our head office in Mascot, you'll support our multiple hazardous waste disposal facilities that specialise in packaged waste streams.

This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to work with cutting-edge waste management technology while ensuring complete regulatory compliance across our operations.

About Our Operations

We operate multiple EPA-approved facilities under comprehensive licenses covering both facility operations and transport. Our team of qualified industrial chemists manages the complete process from identification through packaging, transport, and disposal. This integrated approach allows us to oversee projects from cradle to grave without third parties, minimising costs and risks for our clients.

Our expertise spans chemical and hazardous waste management, contaminated soil remediation, laboratory chemicals, bulk liquids, industrial services, and product destruction.

What You'll Be Doing
 
  • Assist sites to demonstrate visible leadership and apply knowledge to reduce H&S risk and prevent injury and illness.  
  • Provide direction to site management detailing HSE improvements and corrective actions where applicable and provide functional support to ensure such improvement and corrective actions are implemented.  
  • Facilitate and enable effective incident and risk enquiries, to identify and implement sustainable fixes
  • Ensure compliance with EPA license conditions across all facilities
  • Provide expert guidance on dangerous goods classification and packaging requirements
  • Support waste stream identification and assessment processes
  • Collaborate with our industrial chemists on complex waste characterisation
  • Maintain and update dangerous goods procedures and safety protocols
  • Conduct compliance audits and coordinate with regulatory bodies

What We're Looking For

  • Relevant qualifications in chemistry, environmental science, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of EPA licensing requirements and dangerous goods regulations
  • Experience with hazardous waste classification and disposal methods
  • Understanding of contaminated soil management and industrial waste streams
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams
