Who We Are

REMONDIS Specialty Services is one of the world’s leading providers of sustainable waste, water, and resource recovery solutions. With operations across Australia and a strong local footprint, we deliver critical services to key industries while maintaining a clear focus on safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-performing, experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee our Chinchilla operations. This is a permanent, full-time role, ideal for someone locally based with strong knowledge of the Chinchilla region and the Coal Seam Gas (CSG) and coal industry.

This role is responsible for managing large fleets, equipment, and personnel, driving operational performance, ensuring compliance, and supporting business growth through tenders, development opportunities, and commercial negotiations.

The position operates Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, working in partnership with another Operations Manager to ensure full operational coverage between 6:00am and 6:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Chinchilla site, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant service delivery.
  • Oversee large fleets, plant, equipment, and personnel to maximise utilisation, performance, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Coal Seam Gas, environmental, transport, and waste regulations in the local region.
  • Lead and support tender preparation, submissions, and negotiations for existing and upcoming contracts.
  • Develop and manage profitable, long-term commercial agreements with clients and partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulators, representing REMONDIS locally.
  • Take accountability for operational financial performance, including monitoring operational KPIs, financial metrics, P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Lead teams and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

You Will Bring:

  • Proven management and hands-on leadership experience in operational environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large fleets, equipment, and workforce teams.
  • Strong background in waste management, transport, liquids, logistics, or related industries.
  • Coal and gas experience within Chinchilla or the surrounding region, with deep local knowledge of CSG field layouts, site access, and regional industry operations.
  • Solid experience in tenders, contract negotiations, and business development.
  • Strong understanding of local compliance, regulatory, and site operational requirements for coal and gas projects.
  • Experience in P&L ownership, budgeting, reporting, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills, with strong IT and reporting capability.

What We Offer

  • A permanent, full-time leadership role within a stable, essential services organisation operating at a global scale.
  • Monday to Friday roster (38 hours per week), supporting work–life balance and long-term sustainability.
  • Fully maintained company vehicle.
  • Local-based role, allowing you to be home each night while leading a critical regional operation.
  • A high degree of autonomy, accountability, and authority to lead, optimise, and grow the operation.
  • Structured career development, training, and progression opportunities.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact across sustainability, safety, and community-focused services.
  • Access to a comprehensive suite of employee benefits, including national company resources, wellbeing programs, Fitness Passport, and ongoing professional development.
