About the role:

REMONDIS Australia is a leader in waste management and environmental services, committed to delivering sustainable and innovative solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to join our team and oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for analysing and improving operational performance, managing key performance indicators, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the waste industry, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of waste management facilities and transport operations.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations, financial constraints, and HR policies.
  • Lead and organise teams to achieve outstanding performance.
  • Review company expenditure and provide monthly financial reporting.
  • Participate in tendering activities to secure volumes for the facility.
  • Manage waste contracts with key clients and ensure profitability.
  • Develop the business by sourcing opportunities with councils, waste contractors, and waste generators, working alongside the State Sales Manager and team.
  • Ensure timely calibration of all weighing devices of Loadrite and Wastedge technology, ensuring all devices are operational. Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor for timely repairs of faulty equipment.
  • Perform operational audits on collection routes annually, or more frequently, based on performance.
  • Support the sales function through correct specification of equipment for client sites and perform site risk assessments where required.
  • Perform special projects as required by the Site and/or General Manager.
  • Ensure health and safety of employees and self through the implementation of REMONDIS HSEQ policies, procedures, systems, and standards across the operation, and educate, train, and demonstrate correct behaviours across the team.

 

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in operations management, logistics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience in waste and recycling operations or similar industries.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • A commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Mechanical acumen.
  • Regulatory and quality compliance experience – NHVR / COR.
  • Process and systems implementation experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including team rostering and routing.
  • Recruitment and selection of drivers and operational team members.
  • KRONOS operational experience (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • HR or HC licence (desirable).
