What you’ll be responsible for

In this newly created role, your key focus will be to develop and grow the organic processing capacity and build market share within Queensland.

This position will lead the organics business in Queensland and ensure processing capacity can support input volumes.  The role will also grow end markets for finished products and achieve optimal commercial agreements for ongoing supply.

More specifically, you will be involved with:

  • Lead and develop strategies for growth in organics for the QLD region to build up processing capacity and market share.
  • Lead and drive the tenders for organics facilities in QLD and secure volumes for existing or planned facilities.
  • Lead project management of new organics infrastructure development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry bodies and with government agencies, offering technical information and supporting the development of new policies and guidelines.
  • Liaise with Councils and or industry clients to develop business opportunities including the development of organics processing and/or outlet markets for the manufactured materials, including the development of end markets for finished products and achieving optimal commercial agreements for ongoing supply.
  • Devise strategies and implement an economical and quality-orientated approach to operational and technical improvements in organic facilities.
  • Looking forward, develop, lead and manage a team to ensure business results are achieved.
  • Manage expectations of stakeholders to ensure contracts and business targets are met.
  • Support existing organic facilities on technical issues and general process improvements to improve the quality/value of material and profitability of the sites.
  • Assist with the development of budgets for organics across Qld, manage the approval of invoices and capital expenditure.

Who you are 

  • You possess proven operational experience in organics recycling, composting, agricultural operations, mining operations, and/or primary industries
  • You have demonstrated proficiency in developing strategies, tenders and winning business to build market share
  • You have a solid understanding of regulatory Compliance and abreast of local, state, and federal regulations about organic waste, compost management and ensuring compliance
  • You have strong proficiency in project management, technical planning for the development of organic facilities
  • You are able to navigate complex regulatory landscapes in organic waste management
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills, with a strong commitment to customer services and great outcomes
  • You have experience with financial reporting, proficiency with related IT systems and administration
